Physiotherapy & Sports Therapy

Physio & Sports Therapy

Physiotherapy and sports therapy are specialised treatments aimed at preventing, diagnosing, and treating injuries or conditions that affect movement and performance. Who would i chose for treatments:

Physiotherapy

  1. Purpose: Focuses on restoring function, mobility, and quality of life after injury, illness, or disability.

  2. Common Treatments:
    1. Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques such as massage, joint mobilization, or manipulation.
    2. Exercise Therapy: Strengthening, stretching, or functional exercises to improve flexibility, balance, and endurance.
    3. Heat and Cold Therapy: To manage pain, inflammation, and stiffness.
    4. Education: Advice on posture, movement, and injury prevention.

Sports Therapy

  1. Purpose: Focuses specifically on the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of sports injuries to enhance athletic performance.

  2. Common Treatments:
    1. Injury Assessment and Diagnosis: Identifying the root cause of sports-related injuries.
    2. Rehabilitation Exercises: Sport-specific movements to regain strength, agility, and coordination.
    3. Sports Massage: To reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and speed up recovery.
    4. Kinesiology Taping: Provides support without restricting movement.
    5. Performance Optimisation: Developing tailored training programs to reduce injury risk and improve efficiency.
    6. Return-to-Play Programs: Ensuring safe reintegration into sports or activities.

Key Differences

  1. Focus: Physiotherapy treats a broader range of conditions (e.g., post-surgery recovery, neurological disorders), while sports therapy targets sports injuries and athletic performance.
  2. Approach: Sports therapy is often more dynamic and sport-specific, while physiotherapy may be more comprehensive for general rehabilitation.
If you’re considering treatment, your choice depends on the nature of your injury or goals. Physiotherapists are ideal for general recovery, while sports therapists are best for athletic injuries or performance enhancement. Let me know if you’d like advice on a specific condition!

What We Treat

What Can I Expect?

This 45 minute assessment will give your therapist a greater understanding of your injury or pain related condition. Your therapist uses this time to assess your current range of movement and mobility.

Your therapist will analyse the findings while considering the impact of the injury or pain related condition on your day to day life.

You will receive a personalised treatment plan specific to your injury or pain related condition.

Treatment will be designed to complement your current mobility and daily life. This is likely to include a regular sport massage, a home exercise program and 1:1 private consultations with our awarding winning sports therapists.

Your therapist will assess your progress at the beginning of each session. This will indicate how much progress you have made and inform the remainder of your treatment. Reassessing will allow you to see continuous improvement.
